With practice, attention to detail and the right tools, we can all achieve salon-quality gel manicures from the comfort of our own homes. That being said, there are some products best left to the trained professionals.
Why don't we sell Builder Gel Nail Extension Forms or Poly Gel?
Our products are designed for the at-home user, meaning there are certain products we think are best left to the professionals. We believe nail extensions (nail tips) using Builder Gel forms or Polygel should remain for professional use only, as the results can be dangerous if performed incorrectly. Creating extensions is not as intuitive as applying regular Gel Nail Polish and without training, it is easy to make potentially dangerous mistakes. For example if these products are applied too thick they can flood around your cuticles and product could overflow onto your skin. This can cause long term skin irritations and over-filing when being removed. Not only can the results be dangerous, but there are also a lot of elements that go into creating a beautiful extension that are easy for someone who is untrained to get wrong.
Never fear though - with the right products, you can still grow out your natural nails. We suggest using Rubber Base Coat, followed by one or two coats of Builder Gel in your manicures to keep your nails strong, smooth and prevent breakage. Builder Gel paired with Cuticle Oil and other Hand & Nail Treatment application will help your nails to grow long, strong and healthy. We also suggest making sure to remove your Gel Nail Polish correctly to preserve your natural nail and keep them healthy. That means absolutely no peeling of your Gel Polish (as tempting as it may be), as this removes layers of the natural nail.
Why don’t we sell pure Acetone?
Pure acetone is very dangerous and not recommended for use on its own, only mixed at lower volumes with soothing ingredients, such as in our Nail Polish Removers. Not only is acetone very harsh on the skin, it will dehydrate the nail bed and cuticles causing the nails to become dry and brittle. Not to mention the other unpleasant symptoms such as headaches, nausea and dizziness. Acetone based removers are a requirement to remove your Gelous Gel Nail Polish, however it’s much safer and healthier in lower quantities and when combined with nourishing ingredients such as Green Tea, Peach Extract and Eucalyptus. When removing our Gel Nail Polish you do not need to use pure acetone - this is another product we think is best to leave it to the professionals!
